Bird Feeders and Bird Houses
With true Country Charm, these rustic, quirky and classic bird feeders and bird houses will create a feature in any garden, where birds gather to feed, nest and be admired. All have been crafted to withstand the British weather to maintain their appeal, season after season. It is such a pleasure to watch the joyous variety of birds, flying in and out of your garden and grateful for the life-saving food you put out and adorable houses ready for their nests come Spring. As a few top tips, according to the RSPB, birds need high-energy (high-fat) foods during the Autumn and Winter to maintain their fat reserves. Only good-quality food and scraps should be put out and adjusted to demand. A useful tip is also not to change feeding routines, as birds will actually time their visits to your garden. During the Spring and Summer, the birds require high protein foods, which can include: sunflower seeds, pinhead oatmeal, soaked sultanas, raisins and currants, mild grated cheese, mealworms, waxworms, mixes for insectivorous birds and good seed mixtures without loose peanuts. Other ideas include soft apples, pears, bananas, and grapes. Whole peanuts should be avoided as they may be fed to young chicks and likewise avoid homemade fat balls, which can go rancid in warm weather.
